An educational, arts based youth work project has recently been approved for young people in the regeneration area of Arbroath.

Young people who are encouraged and interested in taking part in the project will plan with the CAFE Project and specialist staff a programme that will run over a period of six months. This programme will be focused on encouraging the young people involved to consider alcohol information that is of relevance to them. For example alcohol and risk taking behaviour and alcohol and the impact of peer pressure.

Young people will also be encouraged to take part in the Millennium Volunteers Awards (MV) scheme and this will be supported by the Volunteer Centre Angus.

Many partners in Arbroath have been instrumental in developing this project. The idea stemmed from the Focus on ALcohol Action Day back in February from Chairperson Patricia Millar, Chairperson of the Arbroath Community Council. Since then the CAFE project, Tayside Police and the Volunteer Centre in Angus have supported Patricia to take forward initial ideas.
