Best Bar None Angus Supports St Valentine's Day Campaign

The Ogilvy Bar, Kirriemuir and the 19th Hole, Carnoustie are supporting the 'Frisky Not Risky' campaign again this year for St Valentine's Day.
The campaign aims to highlight the potential risks that can be associated with the use and misuse of alcohol and how that can lead to unprotected sex resulting potentially in unplanned pregnancies and sexually transmitted infections.
Freda Stewart, Health Improvement Manager commented:
"Most people realise that by drinking too much alcohol their personal judgment is affected. This affects the choices made and can result in risky, sexual behaviour. This Valentine's Day, choose a healthy, loving relationship and drink alcohol responsibly whilst making the right choices".
The Best Bar None Angus scheme, a partnership developed by Angus Council, Tayside Police, Tayside Fire and Rescue and NHS Tayside, encourages safety for customers and staff within licensed premises. The premises taking part in the promotion are in a position to issue free condoms to customers on request.
Eileen McArthur of Focus on Alcohol Angus said: "The 'Frisky Not Risky' message for patrons is intended to be a humorous campaign that creates a talking point amongst customers while raising awareness of the real issues of unprotected sex.
"Last year, we heard from a number of bars and pubs that customers chatted in a lively manner about the campaign as they read the messages on their beer mats and posters around the bar or pub.
"We are hoping that by making this a talking point that people do think about the risks involved. This year we are pleased to have distributed materials again to a number of premises".
